Captain Dan

Capt Dan is also an avid underwater hunter and spearfisherman. He is well versed in the states fishing regulations, local fish species, and knows where to get them. He will take you to the best spots for Snapper, Grouper, Triggers, and a whole host of other delicious game fish. He also believes in protecting our natural and artificial reefs by advocating the culling of Lionfish on every dive.  Lionfish are decimating the populations of other specifies of fish. The only Lionfish he wants to see is a cooked and seasoned Lionfish sitting on a dinner plate. They’re delicious too!

Captain Dan served in the military for 20 years and has been a certified diver since 1999. While serving he dove all over the world exploring the waters of the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Red Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Pacific and Atlantic oceans just to name a few. In 2003 he was stationed in Destin for 6 years and fell in love with the area. After retiring from the service he decided to return to Destin which he now calls home. As a USCG certified boat captain he followed his passions for the sea and scuba diving by opening Off Duty Dive Charters. With a lot of local knowledge of the Destin area he now spends as much time as he can offering guests an experience only the Emerald Coast can offer. Whether it be scuba diving on any of the hundreds of dive sites that dot the coastline, saying hello to our healthy community of wild Dolphins, or just enjoy a relaxing day on the boat in the shallow waters of Crab Island, Captain Dan aims to give you the experience you are looking for!

Early in his scuba diving career Dan picked up underwater photography and videography. He still continues the practice today. So don’t be surprised if you see him with a camera in his hands. You can check out some of his work in his personal Pics & Vids Gallery.
